MENACE (Scarlet Scars #1) by J.M. Darhower Book Review & Release Blitz

S Y N O P S I S:
Once upon a time, there was a guy who got so fed up with life that he resorted to murder and mayhem just to feel alive.

Lorenzo Gambini is bored. So f*cking bored. Most people either annoy him or avoid him, afraid to face him. Figuratively. Literally. With his face partially disfigured, scarred, he looks every bit the monster the stories make him out to be: the notorious Scar. They say he's a sociopath. Maybe he's a psychopath. Whatever path he's on, people tend to stay far away from it.

Until one day, a young woman bumps right into him--a woman just as fed up with life, but for much different reasons. With a Scarlet Letter inked on her wrist and secrets buried deep in her soul, Morgan Myers is running from something... or maybe somebody. Lorenzo isn't quite sure.

You can bet your ass he's going to figure it out, though.

M Y  R E V I E W:
Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! This book was spectacular! It was sexy and so so very hot, but more then that it was SUSPENSEFUL and so so action packed! Seriously RIGHT from the very first scene you are on the edge of your seat. The anxiety  is off the charts, but I LOVED every minute of it.
Lorenzo & Scarlet are both so damaged, they have both gone through some awful traumatic events in their life that brought them to this point, where they meet each other. But when they do, they have a pretty intense connection, right from the start. The chemistry between the two is off the charts.

Watching them each let down their guard, while breaking down each other's walls. It was such a wonderfully intense thing to witness. Seriously I LOVED every bit of this fast paced, tragically beautiful book.

I CAN. NOT. WAIT. FOR BOOK #2!!!

LUCIAN DIVINE by Renèe Carlino Book Review and Blog Tour

  luciandivine-fb-banner-now

S Y N O P S I S:

“My guardian angel is a drunk.”

Evelyn Casey's life is at a standstill. She's in her mid-twenties, struggling with the dating scene in San Francisco. Nothing seems to be working out, and she’s starting to think that she’ll live out her days in her crummy apartment with her overbearing roommate, Brooklyn. It's absurd, but sometimes Evey longs for a guardian angel to show up and save the day.

And then he does. Seriously. His name is Lucian and he's a guardian angel, been on the job for two thousand years. His sudden presence in her life is both good—he's brilliant, witty, and warm—and bad—he's brilliant, witty, warm, and hot as ----. But as perfect as Lucian seems, he’s got problems of his own. He’s taken up drinking and he’s brazenly inserted himself into Evey’s life, going against the greatest cosmic law ever created.

For Evey, the rules are simple: You are not allowed to hook up with your guardian angel. But sometimes fulfilling your destiny requires a leap of faith, a confrontation with God.

Yes, God as in God.

M Y  R E V I E W:
Ok so I haven't read a paranormal romance since... wait for it...TWILIGHT! But Renèe Carlino is one of those authors that if she writes it, I'll read it, and she wrote it, so I read it! :)

I won't say that Lucian converted me to be a paranormal lover for life, however I really did enjoy this story. Not only was it an awesome change of pace, a story I don't feel like I have read time & time again, it was also just a seriously beautiful heartwarming love story.

Lucian won me over from the start. I mean who wouldn't fall for a drunk Guardian Angel, who's whole calling is to stalk the girl of his dreams. :) This book was fun, fast paced and I didn't feel like it was predictable at all. I was on the edge of my seat especially throughout the second half of this book.

The characters were fun, and real and enjoyable. It didn't feel rushed or cheesy. I really enjoyed this book. :)

About the Author
CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets.
Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.
She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood.
If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

SEPARATION GAMES by CD Reiss Book Tour

SBPR-SG-ER.jpg

Separation Games by CD Reiss

"CD Reiss writes the best erotica I have ever read."

SEPARATION-GAMES-cover-FULL.jpg

SYNOPSIS:

The stunning conclusion to the New York Times Bestseller.
There’s one, unbreakable rule in the game.
Stay collected. Compartmentalize. Think your next move through. Never let your heart dictate your tactics.
The heart is impulsive.
The heart makes bad decisions.
The heart doesn’t see the long game.
Because the heart may have decided to get Adam back, but when the endgame comes, the heart’s going to be the first thing to break.

R E V I E W:
This book could not have been a more perfect conclusion to SUCH an amazing, epic journey between this couple. CD Reiss writes with a delicate, poetic touch. When you read her work you know that you are reading pure raw talent. She is not getting her feet wet in this field. She is a veteran she knows her shit where the topic of BDSM is concerned, and she has mastered the art of heart from chest removal, direction, hand-stitchery, and replacement. Man, I LOVE her.

These characters left tracks all over my heart. Their ever-shifting, growing, retracting, expanding LOVE absolutely consumed me.

Seriously the non-stop emotion coursing through this book, was off the charts and I felt every ounce of it. I had no idea the first book was going to end in such an intense gut-wrenching way... but it did,it SO did. I honestly had no idea how this story could even conclude. We wish for happily ever afters, but sometimes an author spins a web so tangled that we don't even know what a happily ever after could entail. For me, that was definitely the case with Marriage Games...

But then in Separation Games, she just delivered all across the board. Expectations, demolished, hopes exceeded. It was perfection. Just perfection.

EXCERPT:

Adam pulled me to the next door to the left. It opened into a small theater with about two dozen red velvet seats with lights at the bases.
“There was this guy in Marine Park who collected vintage pornography. When he died, one of the clubs uptown took it and preserved it. When all the clubs merged, they reels moved here.”
“We’re going to watch porn together?”
He guided me down an aisle. “Yes.”
“How adventurous of us.” I smiled at him, flirting.
He smiled back a little, but was reserved in his enthusiasm. We sat in the center.
“Now I’m sorry I wore pants,” I said.
The lights dimmed to black. I took his hand, and he paused before dropping our entwined fingers in his lap.
“I’m trying to illustrate something. I want to talk. So I’m glad you wore pants.”
The bullseye countdown appeared. Adam leaned his head back, closed his eyes, and exhaled. They went back to the screen as if all necessary strength had been gathered.
She’s blindfolded, arms tied above her. He’s lashing her.
“These are from the late sixties,” he said as the picture flickered. There was no sound. “The stuff here is very real. There’s no retouching. It’s 16mm, so there’s none of the porny quality of video.”
He’s wrapping her tits in black tape.
“I see,” I said.
He was right. The frame was raw. The beauty of her submission wasn’t on the film. I didn’t feel as though I was watching something. I felt as though I was witnessing something.
He’s clamping her nipples until they’re elongated meat.
“This is called tit torture,” he said matter-of-factly. “Every step of this was worked out beforehand. You’re not seeing the dozen things he’s not doing.” He twisted in his seat to face me. He was backlit, so I couldn’t see his expression. “Give me an adjective. What do you think of it?”
“Is this your thing?”
“Answer me first.”
I loved him. I wanted him. I’d get on my knees and submit to him.
“It’s gruesome.”
“It’s not my thing.” He sat back and faced the screen. The light flickered on his face. “There’s so much more though.”
He’s putting the business end of a hairbrush in her anus.
I’ve never seen skin that shade of purple.
What is she eating?
In all of them, the submissive may have cried or screamed, but she always came back for more. She kissed the Dominant’s hand or looked at him admiringly. Her lips did a dance of gratitude.
Thank you.
Ten minutes in, I couldn’t hold my questions anymore. “Why are you showing me this? You don’t want to wrap me in duct tape.”
“Someone might. I want you to know what it looks like first.”
“Adam Steinbeck!” I stood and put my fists on my hips. “You fucking shit!”
He crossed his legs, shrugging as if it wasn’t his fault. He just worked here. “What?”
“You’re trying to scare me.”
“I’m trying to inform you.”
“To hell with this. I’m going out there right now and getting someone to fuck me with a wooden spoon.”
I stomped down the aisle. He grabbed my arm. I spun around to face him. Behind him, a woman was getting choked, and every time she breathed, the ecstasy on her face was unmistakable.
“Let go of me,” I growled.
“Look at it. You weren’t meant for this.”
But he was? But Serena was? Was I too good? Too weak? Too strong? None of that mattered.
“You love me. Say it, Adam.”
“I’m keeping the love I have left.”
“Why can’t you love a submissive?”
“I don’t know.”
“You can’t love weakness?” I asked.
“I said I don’t know.”
“You’re unworthy of a woman who would kneel for you?”
“What do you want out of me?”
He was hurting me. I jerked my arm away, and he let go.
“I want you to leave me for a reason. A real reason. I left you because I was unhappy. I thought we were incompatible. You’re leaving me because you asked me to submit to you and I love it. You’re leaving me because you love me a little but not enough. What is all that? It’s not a reason.”
“I’m protecting you!”
“You’re protecting you.”

VICIOUS by LJ Shen Book Review & Blog Tour

B L U R B:

Emilia

They say love and hate are the same feelings experienced under different circumstances, and it’s true.
The man who comes to me in my dreams also haunts me in my nightmares.
He is a brilliant lawyer.
A skilled criminal.
A beautiful liar.
A bully and a savior, a monster and a lover.
Ten years ago, he made me run away from the small town where we lived. Now, he came for me in New York, and he isn’t leaving until he takes me with him.

Vicious

She is a starving artist.
Pretty and evasive like cherry blossom.
Ten years ago, she barged into my life unannounced and turned everything upside down.
She paid the price.
Emilia LeBlanc is completely off-limits, my best friend’s ex-girlfriend. The woman who knows my darkest secret, and the daughter of the cheap Help we hired to take care of our estate.
That should deter me from chasing her, but it doesn’t.
So she hates me. Big fucking deal.
She better get used to me.

M Y  R E V I E W:
I loved every single thing about this book. I loved meeting Vicious & Emilia when they were in high school. Vicious is so FASCINATING right from the start we want to know so much more about him, what makes him tick, what's his freaking deal anyway? We want to know who hurt him and went to each and every brick that formed the wall around his ice cold heart. And that's all just in the first couple of chapters!

And Emilia, her heart is so  big, so strong, so pure, so generous. She has so much love and compassion for her family and those around her. She is their strength, their rock. And while she doesn't let Vicious just walk all over her, she always holds her ground and puts up a fight, he always ALWAYS finds ways to crush her, over and over again.

This is not an easy sweet sappy read. But what it is is a REAL, INTENSE, HONEST, RAW, and EPIC love story spanning decades. Its beautiful and tragic and gut wrenching and its perfection. I absolutely LOVED IT!
