Title: The First Taste
Series: Slip of the Tongue #2
Author: Jessica Hawkins
Genre: Contemporary Romance
 Release Date: August 4, 2016

Blurb

Andrew Beckwith has already devoted his life to one girl—and as far as he’s concerned, she’s all he needs. The rough-around-the-edges bad boy left his reckless ways behind six years ago when his daughter Bell was born. To the female population’s dismay, he’s unapologetically single. When Bell’s mother walked out on them years ago, he vowed never to let another woman close enough to hurt them again.

Amelia Van Ecken isn’t just another woman. She’s an independent, smart, and savvy businesswoman who doesn’t have time for sex, much less love. In the midst of a drawn-out, bitter divorce, all she wants is to bury herself in work. But when sharp-tongued Amelia and stubborn Andrew cross paths, sparks fly—and burn. Two things are obvious in an instant: they want each other, and they’re from different worlds. It’s the perfect formula for an off-the-charts one-night stand. After all, it’s not as if opposites ever attract.

Excerpt

“What’re your plans tonight?”

She scoffs. “It’s Friday night. What aren’t my plans? I have drinks with friends in an hour, then a late dinner, and who knows after that.”

“Cancel them.”

She gapes at me. “Cancel my plans? Why would I?”

“Come out with me. Sadie says there’s a place around here with great pizza.”

She laughs, tilting her head and exposing the smooth column of her throat. “First, I don’t eat carbs, so there’s no way you’re getting me to do anything with the promise of pizza. Second, I just told you—I don’t date.”

“And neither do I.”

“Then why are you asking me out?” she asks.

“Because despite what you may think, I am a gentleman, and it’s only good manners to buy you dinner first.”

“First?” she asks, wrinkling her nose. “What’s second?”

We stare at each other. I let her figure it out on her own. It’s rare to meet a woman like me, someone who truly has no interest in finding a partner. I’ve heard that claim from enough girls to know when they’re bullshitting me, and unless Amelia is a Grade-A con artist, she definitely isn’t looking to get serious.

When she understands, the wrinkles on her forehead ease, and she parts her lips. I answer with a knowing smile. Suggesting sex within half an hour of meeting someone might normally get me slapped, but I get the feeling Amelia appreciates a more direct approach.

“I don’t date,” I say, “but I’m still a man with eyes.”

She makes no secret of looking me up and down. “You’re not my type either,” she warns. “I like men who carry a briefcase and see a barber regularly.”

I run my hand through my black hair, which I know is too long. “How’s that working out for you?”

She narrows her eyes. “Fine. Perfect.”

“I have some tattoos too,” I say. “And ride a motorcycle. Since that’s normally how I get most girls, I suppose those are turn-offs for you.”

“They are,” she says immediately, straightening her shoulders. “I’ve never understood the appeal of a bad boy.”

“Then tonight, we’re a match made in heaven, aren’t we? It shouldn’t be hard for either of us to say goodbye afterward.”

She bats her eyelashes a few times, not because she’s flirting but because she’s thinking. Considering. Which means it’s basically a done deal. I’ve never gotten this far with a girl only to have her walk away. “Why even bother with dinner?” she asks.

I take a moment to study her, her shoulder-length, perfectly coifed blonde hair. Her defined red lips that look like a heart when pursed, which is often. Yeah, based on the fact that I’m noticing details—something I try not to do anymore—I know I’m feeling her tonight. Most guys would jump at the opportunity to skip the small talk, but that doesn’t really appeal to me. I like women, always have. Just because Shana fucked me in the head doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate them. Doesn’t mean I don’t want to spend time around them—just so long’s it’s surface stuff.

I don’t want to scare her off by suggesting I might want to have a conversation with her, so I just shrug. “Because I’m starving.”

“I’m not hungry.”

“Indulge me then. I need my energy.”

“For what?” she asks.

I arch an eyebrow at her. I’ll definitely need my energy for a night with her.

She reads my expression and her cheeks redden. “Oh.”

TAPPING THE BILLIONAIRE & BANKING THE BILLIONAIRE (Billionaire Bad Boys 1 & 2) by Max Monroe DOUBLE BOOK REVIEW

BILLIONAIRE BAD BOYS Books 1 & 2
by MAX MONROE

S Y N O P S I S:
Tapping The Billionaire:
Blind dates? Online dating profiles? Been there, done that.

Georgia Cummings has zero luck with dating, and the era of the internet is not her friend.
No matter how fast she runs, how many corners she turns, she can’t find her way out of this weird, alternate universe where men think dick pics are a replacement for small talk and getting to know a girl. One more crotch selfie and she might write men off for good…

But why can’t she stop fantasizing about him?

Kline Brooks is the quintessential billionaire bad boy—dark, styled, short hair, muscles for days, and a panty-dropping smile.
Except—he isn’t.

As his employee, he won’t touch her with a ten foot pole.
But she won’t touch him either.

Too bad their hormones missed the memo.

M Y   R E V I E W:
This book... it was SEXY, SILLY, CHARMING, HEARTFELT, SEXY AS HELL, and just plain FUN! One of my favorite things about a book is when I can relate to the characters and feel a connection with them. This book went so far beyond that. Not only did I feel connected to them, but I felt like I was part of the group. I loved being in on their inside jokes. Seriously it was so fun. :)

I had read Tapping Her (Billionaire Bad Boys 1.5) before I had the chance to read Tapping the Billionaire. But it did not take away from the fun and excitement of this book. It was just a really fun introduction into the group for me. (That being said, you should definitely read them in order. ;)

Georgia "Benny" was such a great heroine. She is smart and dedicated to her job, her friends, and her (albeit, crazy) family. She is brave and so kind hearted and I just wanna be her very best friend. I love how hard and fast she fell for Kline. But know one fell harder and faster then me... ok well maybe Dick Cummings did. ;) HA!

I loved seeing Georgia through Kline's eyes. The two different POV's added so much to their story. This book was about cherishing and being cherished by one another... How that can be the most simple or complicated thing on the planet.

S Y N O P S I S:
Banking the Billionaire
Uninhibited. Sarcastic. Confident. Beautiful.
With a thriving photography career that allows her to travel all over the world and capture the hottest of men behind her camera lens, Cassie Phillips is the woman who can’t be tamed.

Adrenaline-junkie. Jokester. Billionaire. Hot-as-sin.
At six-foot-five, with muscles for days, and that perfect playful smile, Thatcher Kelly is the kind of man you don’t want to deny.

Wild for wild.
Prank for prank.
The two most unlikely of people may be the only ones to see that some personality traits only run skin deep.

Uncensored. Hilarious. And too damn hot to put into words.
Grab a fan and get ready for one hell of a ride because when the opposite of opposites attract, things are bound to get a little messy.

M Y  R E V I E W:
I loved LOVED Tapping the Billionaire, I didn't think that anything could top it. I fell so hard for the characters, and I just wanted to read more about Kline & Georgia forever! But then, getting to know Thatch & Cassie, oh my gosh, I was hooked by the first chapter. I FUCKING loved them both.

These two had me laughing out loud constantly. But holy shit I felt this story to my core you guys. It was real and sweet and epic and FUN.

I want to live in this world that Max Monroe has created. I want to be part of the gang, and the best part is... I totally feel like I am. This is one of the greatest bunch of characters I've ever read about. Its non-stop jokes and ribbing each other, but they have the upmost respect for eachother, they're a family and I love that.

Nothing makes me happier then knowing that there will be a third book about WES: I can't wait to learn more about this mysterious guy. I have loved what I've already gotten to know about him, and any friend of Thatch, is a friend of mine. ;) I know for a fact that Winnie is going to give him a run for his money. And I can't wait to go along for the ride. :)

If you haven't met these Billionaire Bad Boys check out their whole series... tell them BEX sent you:

My Review:

Fuck Gravity, I started falling when I opened this book, and never stopped. Falling for Cage, falling for Lake, and falling head over heels with Jewel E. Ann over and over and over again. Her writing is beautiful, it addicting, is inspiring and liberating, its fucking heartbreaking, and exciting, hilarious and SEXY. AS. FUCK.

"Lets never be in love. Lets fall every day without ever touching the ground...FUCK GRAVITY."

Before you one-click this book, kiss your other book boyfriends goodbye, and tell them you love them, because once you meet Cage Monaghan, and his hypnotizing dimples... well there's just no going back, and Cage does NOT share.

We met Lake & Cage in Jewel E. Ann's Jack & Jill series. They both had small parts but well fell quite hard for them right off the bat. In the series the two of them meet and they share "One Day, One Everything." ...sigh even though Lake & Cage played such a small part in the big picture that was the J&J series, their story just jumped off of the page and touched my heart. I knew instantly that I wanted to know SO much more about them, and that there was SO MUCH MORE to their story. And Oh My Gosh was I right. This story is EPIC! Not for the faint of heart.

"This is it. This is where you sink or swim. This is where the survivors are separated from the victims."

Lake is a fucking warrior. She's my hero and she's my bookgirlfriend for life. She's fun and feisty. She's wild and brave. She's got layers, and so does Cage. I love that she refers to him as the Man of her Dreams from the first chapter... like there was never any question. And there simply wasn't.

"Losing my leg was easy compared to losing my heart to Cage, even if I did willingly hand it to him."

Jewel is a poet, she writes these words that are like a siren song to my soul and I feel every single one of them. The Jack & Jill series is a romance-suspense, however ONE had me turning pages just as fast, had my heart beating out of my chest just the same. I felt that fire, that passion that need for more more more and she delivered, oh man, she delivered.

...I mean who else could write something as poetic as:
"...blah, blah, blah, I wanted to be his."

Haha! Just kidding but I do love the quote that that's part of so much here it is: "Independent woman, I belonged to no man, blah, blah, blah, I wanted to be his. The desire to find on e guy that made me want to wave my white flag lived in the non-feminist part of my brain. Cage was white flag worthy."

I SURRENDER!

...I just can't even find the words, all I can do is tell you from the bottom of my little blogger heart, how much I truly LOVED this book.

If you haven't read the Jack & Jill series.. R E A D  I T. Its brilliant, suspenseful, sexy, funny, its everything. If you're still reading this, then I think / hope its because you've put your faith in me as a blogger, you know I wouldn't lead you wrong. You CAN read this amazing book as a standalone, it will be just as brilliant but there are so many spoilers for the J&J series, you'd be doing yourself a disservice, so first do yourself a favor and: ONE-CLICK End of Day (Jack & Jill Book 1) for FREE!!!

5 QUESTIONS with ALICE CLAYTON & NINA BOCCI

SERIOUSLY... How Adorbs are These Two?!
5 Questions With Nina Bocci & Alice Clayton

1.How did the two of you meet? What is the hardest you have ever laughed together, can you share a fun story with us?
Nina: We met while writing Twilight Fan Fiction waaaaay back in 2008 or 09’ and have been BFF ever since. The funniest story, there are many, let’s be clear, but the first thing that came to mind when I read this question was a trip to Chicago for a signing. Alice and I and Christina and Lauren were walking back from dinner and for whatever reason, we were acting like idiots. We have so many pics from us cackling, crying and bent over in tears standing on this bridge. I honestly can’t remember the why but whatever it was, I’m grateful for those laughs.
[ Nina * Alice * Lauren * Christina ]
Alice: I remember that night. That was a good night. Honestly there are so many stories like that, literally just busting a gut. One of the first things that comes to mind is when we were in Orlando for the first Book Bash and we were at a party afterwards and Nina started dancing to Blurred Lines and I have literally never seen anything like it. She danced like it was her job. I very nearly (and probably did let’s be real) peed my pants I was laughing so hard.

2. What was your favorite part of co-writing together, and what was the hardest part?
Nina: The favorite, I’d say was getting to write with you best friend and laughing or swooning over Marcello. The hardest, I would say would be balancing out the voices in the book. We didn’t want it to sound “too Alice” or “too Nina” so finding that in between was hard work but our editor, Lauren, really helped with that.
hggjcgc

Alice: I think for me my favorite part was sharing the responsibility, which seems strange but for someone who has essentially only ever written solo projects it was a relief sometimes to be able to give something back and say “Dude, I got nothing, you gotta take this scene.” The hardest part? I’d agree with Nina, making sure that we were able to meld our voices into one.

3.Your book, Roman Crazy, and the Broads Abroad series sound like they are about women out traveling the globe. AWESOME! Are you girls world travelers? What are some of your favorite places you have seen? And have you ever traveled together? What is the  CRAZIEST thing one or both of you have seen while traveling?

Nina: Yes! We both LOVE to travel and do it as often as possible.  I’d say my favorite place to travel so far has been Italy. We’re planning to go together next year! The craziest thing is probably how many proposals I’ve witnessed while traveling. I seem to have a knack for being in the right place at the right time.

Alice: Before WALLBANGER came out I hadn’t been on a real vacation for probably ten years. I’d been working as a corporate trainer and traveled 3-4 days almost weekly for my job, and the last thing I wanted to do when I actually took time off was get back on a plane. Being able to write for a living, and visit the places I’ve literally always dreamed about visiting, as been a dream come true. I think my favorite place I’ve traveled to in the last few years is Prague. I did a signing there almost two years ago, and I still can’t wait to go back. It’s the most beautiful city I’ve ever been to.

4.Ok, if you guys swapped lives with each other for 24 hours, and woke up in the other person’s bed. Which would you raid first, their CLOSET, their DIARY or their FRIDGE?
Nina: Oh, boy! Can I add an option and say I would snuggle with her giant beast of a dog, Matilda? She looks like such a sweetie and I haven’t met her yet!
Alice: Matilda would be thrilled to have the snuggles. If Nina and I were swapping I’d wake up in her bed, grab her kid, call him in sick to school, and head to her mother’s house and eat meatballs all damn day. Her mother can cook…

5.The Broads Abroad Series sounds like SO MUCH FUN! Is the second book already in the planning stages? Do you have details about Book 2 that you would like to share? You are both such awesome writers… do either of you have solo projects coming up that you want to share with us?
Nina: We have quite a few planned! Nothing to share yet but we’re hoping soon. I’m working on a contemporary romantic comedy series and a women’s fiction novel. I have a YA that I’ve recently picked back up too ;)
Alice: Oh lordy I always have several irons in the fire. Which typically burn me…but yes, we’ve got several other Broads Abroad books outlined and set aside for the future;)

 1)Which movie do you choose?
Nina: The Goonies!
Alice: Grease 2

2) Which characters in that movie do each of you choose to be?
Nina: Mikey
Alice: OMG Stephanie Zinone. I literally wanted to be her when I was little. Also Olivia Newton John from Xanadu, I wanted to be an Alice/Stephanie/Olivia hybrid.

3) You each get to choose one plot twist to write in, to change the film, what will it be?
Nina: I wouldn’t change a thing. The Goonies is perfections. Goonies never say die! I think I want a Goonies tattoo now… hmmmm…
Alice: The plot wrist is instead of Michelle Pfeiffer STEPHANIE ZINONE IS ALICE CLAYTON!!!
