REVIEW: SPARROW by L.J.Shen

Blurb:

Troy Brennan

Every Southie in Boston knows that name. The son of a dead mobster. The heart-throb with steel-blue eyes. "The Fixer" who can make or break you in this city.

Oh, and my new husband.

Sparrow Raynes

That's me. No one seemed to remember my name up until he barged into my life.
But then he caged me.
Kidnapped me.
And killed every chance I had to run away from the place where we grew up.
Put simply, Troy Brennan clipped my wings.

I have dreams, big ones, but I doubt he'll ever let me chase them. I have no idea why he decided to take me as his wife. But I do know this: pissing off this man will not do me any good. At all.

Sparrow is a standalone, full-length novel. It contains graphic violence and adult situations some may find offensive.

My Review:

This book was awesome! So unexpected. I had not had the privilege of reading L.J. Shen's work before this book, it was recommended by some fellow bookie babes so I thought I would check it out and from the very beginning I was so hooked!

Troy Brennan, holy shit what an anti-hero! He was a spectacular asshole. And he owned it to the fullest extent. This isn't one of those books where Troy is misunderstood and he eventually becomes super sweet and lovable. No, he makes no apologies for being a dick 100% of the time. Its who he is, who he always has been. So why do we fall so head over heels for him?

“If you think you’re going to give me trouble, think again. I invented trouble. I stir it, I mix it, I … fix it. Don’t try my patience, because you’ll discover I have absolutely none”

The book opens with a kidnapped Sparrow getting ready on her wedding.

“We weren’t a real couple, and this wasn’t a love story”

Sparrow is a badass. My new Book Bestie. I want to hang out with this girl every day. Have sleepovers, braid each others hair while we talk about boys, especially her's. ;)

Sparrow tries to hard to resist him, to hate him, she can not trust him or his intentions so developing feelings for him causes her a great internal battle.

“You can hate me and still love how I make you feel.”

This book had everything I LOVE: Suspense, Romance, Action, LOVE, Lust Passion, Hate, it was fast paced, high energy, it wasn't predictable, I spent a good portion of the book wondering which way it was going to go in the end. But I was so happy to be along for the ride!
