IT ENDS WITH US by Colleen Hoover Book Review

S Y N O P S I S:
Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town in Maine where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. So when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true.

Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant. He’s also sensitive, brilliant, and has a total soft spot for Lily. And the way he looks in scrubs certainly doesn’t hurt. Lily can’t get him out of her head. But Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place.

As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan—her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

M Y  R E V I E W:
If I had a superpower in this moment of time I would use it to find words to describe the absolute shit storm of emotions this amazing book left me with. But I'm not a superhero (though I do have seven kiddos and today I got them to clean like 2/3s of our house so I'm feeling pretty heroic) so I'm left here, tongue-tied and speechless. Physically feeling this book down to my core. My heart feels a little heavier, my mind feels pulled in a million different directions, and I'm finding it hard to even get through this day. I've texted my book sisters who have read it so we could discuss & process, I've also reached out to some of my girlfriends who aren't big readers to tell them that THIS IS THE ONE... this is the one you pick up and read cover to cover, rather you're "just not that into reading" or not. This book is the exception. I want every woman I know, and every woman I love to read these powerful, inspiring words.

I went into this book blind, without reading a synopsis. Which was hard to do as much as everyone was talking about it. But I mean who needs a synopsis when you've got Colleen Hoover at the wheel. I put my heart in her hands, praying she would return it in its original condition. And holy shit, while it does feel like it has been completely put through the ringer today, it also feels fuller, stronger and ready to take on almost anything.

I don't want to give anything away about this book. I want only to tell you that I finished it last night at 2am. I was up until 4am with my mind racing and heart pounding, processing everything I had just read. When I woke up this morning this first thing that I did was stick a couple of post-its to cover a couple of the more graphic scenes, then I handed to the book to my daughter (15). I can't wait to discuss it with her, I won't rest until every woman I know reads this beautiful, powerful book.

Thank you for this gift Colleen. And BRA-VO!
